MindFormer Demonstration - 26th May 1997

Welcome to the first ever available automatic demonstration of
the MindFormer object/animation tool.
This tool is just one of the tools forming the
MindRender Virtual Reality Explorer Kit (VREK)
available now from Themekit.

To install this demonstration. Download the MFDEMO.ZIP file from our
ftp site. Make a new directory on your hard drive called MFDEMO and
change directory to this new directory (CD \MFDEMO).
        Now copy the MFDEMO.ZIP file to this directory and unzip the
file using the following command line from MS-DOS or a Win95 DOS box.
It is vital that you use the command line exactly otherwise all of
the files may end up in the same directory rather than building the
directory tree structure required.

PKUNZIP -d MFDEMO.ZIP

If you do not have access to PKUNZIP.EXE, this may be obtained free of charge
from the Themekit website (http://www.themekit.com) at the demo page.

To run this demonstration change directory to the installation directory
and type:

MFDEMO /playback demo1

The demonstration will run through a recorded session of a professional
object designer at work. The first section is basically a gallery of
work already produced using MindFormer. The second section builds
an object from scratch.

To exit the demonstration at any point, simply press the Escape key and
then press the Space key at the PLAYBACK ENDED prompt.

The demonstration requires the user to press the Space key whenever
prompted. This only occurs twice in this demonstration, the first time
towards the start, the second time after about ten minutes.

        Note that this demonstration is simply a recording of the
keypresses and mouse movements used when the recording was made. There are
no video or pre-edited sequences. Everything you see on your computer
is being generated in real-time. Therefore this demonstration gives
you a good idea of how the VREK tools will perform on your equipment.

There may be more recording files available for you to playback.
Check in the CONFIG directory for any files with a .MFR file extension,
such files may be played back in the same way as the DEMO1 demostration.

At the time of this posting, three additional recordings are available:

TEXTURE1 : This shows many of the texture mapping methods available with MindFormer.

TEXTURE2 : This show a few more texture mapping methods.

SIMUL1   : This is a demonstration on how MindFormer performs with stereoscopic
           viewing using the SimulEyes LCD Shutter Glasses (www.stereographics.com).
